Got mad love for our homies at Solid Bump Records, who regularly perform at our local Rock It Science Laboratories events. And this is an exciting announcement for sure, check out their site for the full artist roster and sound clips of upcoming releases. The press shot of White Girl Lust is a bit unsettling though…think they might be driving around in an old van with tinted windows right now?

iPad? Who cares about an oversized iPod? Here is a real announcement! Finally after months of A&R, discussing strategy, etc. we are ready to give you a taste of what we have brewing in the Solid Bump kitchen. In my biased opinion – it is delicious.

If you’re in SF check out these 2 great events. Friday our residency at Temple Fridays has us sharing the bill with Louie Vega of Masters At Work. Louie is a Grammy-winning producer and always brings a serious ruckus. Rock It Science Laboratories’ Eric Sharp and Native Intelligence will be keeping it dirty all night in the Destiny Lounge. RSVP to eric@rockitscienceSF.com to get on the list for reduced admission before 11 PM. You won’t regret it.

Saturday is a mega-party at Mezzanine, another of the best spots in SF, to benefit victims of the earthquake in Haiti. This event is a who’s who of San Francisco’s local electro scene, and is a collaborative effort of some of the most powerhouse crews in the city. Hope to see you on the dance floor!

Our boy DJ Morale, resident selector for Hacksaw Entertainment and Solid Gold Jacuzzi homie, comes through with a mix live from the future. Hacksaw is one of the dopest crews in SF, booking tight acts like Chromeo, Radioclit and Neon Indian on the regular. The best way we can describe this DJ mix is Bass: The Final Frontier…

Moving Windows, featuring the production of Rock It Science’s Native Intelligence and Navarro (Urban Loops) is both a mid tempo and ambient odyssey through sound.
Each brilliant track weaves a new sonic tale sometimes creating a deep and meditative musical story and other times a head bobbing, road trippy, energized vibe. Quite simply it not only fits all moods but molds your mood while drifting in and out of global soundscapes.

“Moving Windows” is a very special album because it is one that seemed impossible to release. I’ll explain more on that later.
Each track was a collaborate effort by myself and Navarro. We pulled loops, samples, sounds and mixed the vast bank of collaged textures with our own original musical writings on the keyboard. By producing in this style songs could be formed quickly with an exciting feeling of accomplishment as we were obsessed with the notion of making twelve songs, having a photo shoot, and releasing on our own label in just a few months. We worked long hours in his cramped living space in the Tenderloin area of San Francisco setting personal records such as completing two and a half songs in 12 hours. Often we saw eye to eye and then there were other times of great disagreement on such subjects of song structure, song titles, and even the album title. We both had very strong opinions and yet always worked it out and kept on pressing forward.
With respect to my ex production partner I will simply state that during the production of song 12, laptops and external hard drives were confiscated, things went missing and I was left with 11 songs on an audio CD and no contact with my friend. That was more than two years ago. The album sat on a shelf for a while only to be shared with close friends.
Recently Todd Christensen offered to distribute the album and help with all the details of a proper release. I kept all the song titles the same and even kept the album title that Navarro wanted. Interestingly enough the missing track (12) was titled “No Small Hurdle”. I chose the concept for the album cover in reference to Navarro being a Moving Window in my life. Just like the alley is a reflection or view through the human shape next me so is Henry Navarro’s musical and personal view on this album. This album is dedicated to all that grab the creative moment without hesitation and work diligently against all odds to present their vision to the masses. Last but not least, keep supporting artists and buy music. thanks.
Sincerely,
Native Intelligence
